Adrenal Fatigue Natural Remedies

When your adrenal glands are so fatigued, it causes low energy, tiredness, exhaustion, weakness, allergies, sleep problems, low sex drive, poor concentration, and the inability to cope with stress. Causes may come from nutritional deficiencies, adrenal or pituitary tumors, or prolonged stress.

Modern medicine often ignores the causes and uses steroids or stimulants with their attending side effects. Use the natural way to help adrenal fatigue through good nutrition and helpful supplements to rehabilitate the adrenals.

Diet: remove tobacco, alcohol, coffee, black tea, and fast foods. Also exercise moderately and sleep eight hours a day.

Some of the most important nutrients are to use a whole-food source such as using Stress Multi-Vitamins from New chapter for optimal nutrition, and Amla-C or New Chapter’s C-Food Complex.

Disclaimer: some drugs and herbs should not be combined.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Natural Remedies

Chronic fatigue (CFS) is a debilitating disorder where the patient is plagued by overwhelming fatigue. Symptoms include chronic exhaustion, joint pains, sore throat, headaches, muscle aches, and glandular swelling. Common cause is unknown, and is often frustrating for sufferers. Modern medicine has very little answers and mostly prescribes rest. When pressed, they may prescribe stimulants.

The natural perspective of chronic fatigue is generally a stress response in over-achieving and perfectionist women; statistically those who are executive women in their 30s to 50s experience symptoms. This may also cause hypersensitivity to environmental conditions, often emotionally caused.

What you can do naturally is to start by cleaning up your diet, making sure you are free of tobacco, alcohol, coffee, black tea and diet products. Homeopathy and cell salts are often indicated because of hypersensitivity as they do not interact with other medications and are non-toxic.

Fibromyalgia Natural Remedies

Fibromyalgia (FMS) is a soft tissue musculoskeletal syndrome that is similar to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It differs from Chronic Fatigue Syndrom (CFS) in that the primary symptom of fatigue fibromyalgia painthat is experienced by CFS patients is replaced with musculo-skeletal pain in fibromyalgia patients.

90% of fibromyalgia patients are women, usually aged 20-60 (most commonly 45 to 55). Although Fibromyalgia is less prevalent in men, men experience more severe symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Western medicine is beginning to acknowledge Fibromyalgia. The diagnosis often comes after all other diagnoses are exhausted.

The theories of cause are all over the place, with one common theory; that it stems from some physical trauma. Hypothyroidism may be a possible precipitating factor (and possibly a direct cause) of Fibromyalgia. Dr. Robin Murphy, N.D., my mentor, has proposed that it is a condition based upon emotional issues with males. It makes sense to me, as most sufferers are women and practically every man I have seen for Fibromyalgia has been abused by some male in their life. The few exceptions are likely physical trauma.

Case in point: Some time ago a woman called me about Fibromyalgia, as it started with an abusive second marriage. She divorced him and married a fine loving man, but the symptoms persisted. She had not resolved her issues with the abusive marriage. Often, emotional issues can affect our physical body in the form of a condition or disease. This particular condition is sometimes mistaken for or associated with Epstein-Barr Syndrome or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Major symptoms include muscular pain, depression, anxiety, severe exhaustion, memory, insomnia, digestive problems, blood sugar problems and urinary problems. Here are some descriptions:

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is one of the minor symptoms of Fibromyalgia. 70% of patients experience irritable bowel syndrome which is characterized by alternating diarrhea and constipation, intestinal cramps, flatulence and nausea.

Generalized fatigue is one of the minor symptoms of Fibromyalgia. 85% of patients experience overwhelming tiredness accompanied by an inability to perform physical tasks. It may occur without any precipitating events.

Anxiety is one of the minor symptoms of Fibromyalgia (62% experience), along with irritability and over-concern without any specific precipitating events causing these feelings.

Chronic headache or migraine is one of the minor symptoms of Fibromyalgia (approx. 70% experience).

Natural solutions include using supplements and good dietary nutrition for reducing stress and muscular pain. It is important to find a homeopathic remedy to help you deal with the emotional issues that keep the pain intact.

For a little extra help, use the following supplements that may help with or prevent symptoms of Fibromyalgia:

Vitex helps to increase progesterone which may alleviate some cases of Fibromyalgia (according to anecdotal reports).

Magnesium deficiency within muscle fibers is speculated to be a factor in the development of Fibromyalgia. Daily supplementation of 300 – 600 mg of magnesium, especially from the Magnesium malate form, may result in significant improvements in the number of tender points in Fibromyalgia patients (supposedly from the malic acid content of magnesium malate, rather than the magnesium content).

MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) has anti-inflammatory affects and is speculated to be a useful treatment for Fibromyalgia.

Disclaimer: some drugs and herbs should not be combined.

Insomnia Natural Remedies

Good sleep is essential for good health, mentally, physically and emotionally. Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep within an hour of going to bed, or it is awakening one or more times during the night; both include not getting back to sleep. Symptoms include sleeplessness, wakefulness, tiredness in the morning, snoring.

Insomnia is found in those over the age of sixty more than others, affecting 40% of women and 25% of men. Causes include shift work, emotional and physical stresses, alcohol, diet (the foods you eat), eating too much, drinking fluids or taking stimulants too close to bed time, medication side effects, restless-leg syndrome, toxicity of the body, and even pollution.

Modern medicine uses drugs to treat insomnia; they knock you out and are often addictive to some degree or another. Worse than this, the sleep is artificial and may affect your health eventually.

Naturally we are meant to sleep up to eight hours nightly; everyone is different in the sleep they need. It is healthy to wake up at the same time every morning, and to go to bed at a reasonable time. One must condition the mind to sleep well. The bedroom is for sleep and sex only. Watch television, read, and do other things in other rooms. Avoid shift work as your body can’t sleep when it should – at night.

Sleeplessness is a sign of inner restlessness: time to do some inner cleansing. Other signs may include: emotion conflict, nerve weakness from worry, bad dreams, feverish diseases, stomach disturbances, fear of death, or high cholesterol. Many people get used to sleeplessness.

The causation of physical factors can be the colon, bladder, fever, or cough. To help insomnia, take care of the cause. Take gentle walks, or use clay packs on the calves. Bathe in a lukewarm bath (a few drops of essential oils added).

Magnesium, taken several times a day (up to loose stools) relaxes the muscles when there id physical muscle cramps, or restless legs or tight muscles.

Before retiring to bed

  • Keep water, or other fluid intake, to a minimum about four hours before bed. The same thing goes for caffeine, coffee, and black tea.
  • Alcohol can make you drowsy and depresses the central nervous system, but causes restless sleep.
  • Eat heavy meals at least two to three hours before bed.
  • Electric blankets disturb the body’s electrical system and are harmful to the immune system.
  • Stay quiet and try not to pick fights with family members, or others, before bedtime.

Disclaimer: some drugs and herbs should not be combined.

Natural Healing Protocol: Combining supplements will do more to support your body’s ability to function properly than using just one. Use the following remedies for best results — your ability to heal will depend on the severity and length of time your symptoms have been present.

Mononucleosis Natural Remedies

Mononucleosis is a viral infection that comes on quickly with swollen glands in the neck, high temperature. It comes from the cytomegalovirus or Epstein Barr virus.

Symptoms include fatigue, exhaustion, sore throat and swollen glands of the neck. It can have symptoms of enlarged tonsils as well as rashes in about 20% of sufferers. Most people who experience mono are 10 to 40 years old, and most are women. Symptoms typically last several weeks to months and may develop into chronic fatigue symptoms.

Mono is transmitted through saliva and is thus the “kissing disease.” It is a weakness of the immune and lymphatic systems as a result of stress. From the medical viewpoint, they leave mononucleosis alone as there is no pharmaceutical treatment. Their strength is the diagnosis.

The natural solution for mono is rather simple as I learned from my teacher Dr. Robin Murphy. He claimed that mono symptoms may go away in as little as two days using herbs and homeopathic remedies. I was skeptical, but the experience with my clients showed me it is possible in 2 to 7 days with most of the person’s strength recovered. It is just a weakness of lymphatic and immune function from stress and poor diet.

Diet: make sure to eliminate alcohol, tobacco, coffee, caffeine, sodas and junk food.

Supplementing with Pycnogenol may be helpful as it is a powerful anti-oxidant.

Disclaimer: some drugs and herbs should not be combined.
