Addison’s Natural Remedies

Low cortisol production from the adrenals can lead to Addison’s disease. A loss of aldosterone can cause low blood pressure, dehydration, or even shock. Another sign may be excessive skin pigmentation, and hypoglycemia. Causes of Addison’s can come from autoimmune disease, cancer or other chronic wasting diseases.

Modern medicine treats Addison’s with steroid treatments that may have to be taken for the rest of your life.

It may have come from long-term stress or some severe chronic wasting disease such as cancer. It has been documented in homeopathy to be reversible supported by cell salts, and herbal therapies.

What else you can do: eliminate tobacco, alcohol, coffee, black tea and soda. Reducing stress is a must, as well as using Stress Multi-Vitamins from New chapter for optimal nutrition, and Amla-C or New Chapter’s C-Food Complex.

Disclaimer: some drugs and herbs should not be combined.

Adrenal Fatigue Natural Remedies

When your adrenal glands are so fatigued, it causes low energy, tiredness, exhaustion, weakness, allergies, sleep problems, low sex drive, poor concentration, and the inability to cope with stress. Causes may come from nutritional deficiencies, adrenal or pituitary tumors, or prolonged stress.

Modern medicine often ignores the causes and uses steroids or stimulants with their attending side effects. Use the natural way to help adrenal fatigue through good nutrition and helpful supplements to rehabilitate the adrenals.

Diet: remove tobacco, alcohol, coffee, black tea, and fast foods. Also exercise moderately and sleep eight hours a day.

Some of the most important nutrients are to use a whole-food source such as using Stress Multi-Vitamins from New chapter for optimal nutrition, and Amla-C or New Chapter’s C-Food Complex.

Natural Anemia Remedies

Anemia is a lack of iron (hemoglobin) from low red blood cell count. Sometimes a person is without symptoms, however, iron deficiency anemia usually brings with it thin breaking fingernails and persistent fatigue, frequent yawning, light-headedness, shortness of breath or dizziness, sores on corners of mouth, pale face, and lower lip paleness.

Most common causes of anemia are lack of iron absorption from poor digestion or heavy menstrual bleeding in women. Other causes include poor bone marrow red blood cell production. The spleen can destroy red blood cells prematurely.

Medical treatments can include iron supplementation. They also look for stomach bleeding or tumors. They also look at medicines and radiation treatment that can destroy the red blood cells. Anemia is often discovered through blood tests.

From a natural perspective on anemia, we look at causes and to help support the body at optimum levels. It can be associated with low stomach acid, thus to improve digestion. It can also be a sign of cancer, Cushing’s disease, Diabetes etc.

Eat foods rich in iron such as dark greens, cherries and more. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, coffee, black tea, or sodas.

Chlorophyll may be taken several times a day, a well as molasses.

Spirulina may stimulate bone marrow to produce red blood cells.

Iron at 15 to 30 mg a day for low iron.

Vitamin B12 for absorption of iron.

Folic acid also for iron absorption.

Copper is a co-factor for iron absorption.

Vitamin C for optimal iron absorption.

Lupus (SLE) Natural Remedies

Lupus (Systemic Lupus Erythematosis) is a serious autoimmune disease that affects the body’s connective tissues. It occurs when the body produces abnormal antibodies that attack normal body tissue as if it were a foreign invader; a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorder that may affect many organ systems. The disease affects 9 times as many women as men. It may occur at any age, but appears in most people between 10 and 50 years old. (Approximately 1 in 700 women are affected.)

Symptoms of lupus vary widely with the individual and are characterized by remissions and exacerbations. At the onset of lupus only one organ system may be involved; additional organs may become involved later. The course of the lupus may vary from mild episodic to fatal illnesses. The following organ system manifestations may be seen, but other manifestations are possible:

Musculoskeletal. Almost all people with SLE have joint pain and most develop arthritis. Frequently affected joints are the fingers, hands, wrists, and knees. Death of bone tissue can occur in hips and shoulders and is frequently a cause of pain in those areas.

Skin. A malar “butterfly” rash over the cheeks and bridge of the nose affects about half of those with SLE. The rash is usually worsened by sunlight. A more diffuse rash may appear on other body parts exposed to the sun. Other skin lesions or nodules can occur.

Other symptoms include: fever, general discomfort, uneasiness or ill feeling (malaise), skin rash, malar “butterfly” rash, sunlight aggravates skin rash, joint pain and swelling, sensitivity to sunlight, pleuritic chest pain, seizures, psychosis, fatigue.

Causes of lupus: elevated estrogen levels may increase the risk of SLE; excessive stomach acid; aspartame is suspected; leaky gut syndrome may be a cause due to over-the-counter pain medications (chronic use).

Lupus may cause these ailments: chilblains (rarely) as a side effect; hypertension (via the impaired kidney function caused by nephritis; Pericarditis; Raynaud’s disease; edema (due to nephritis); nephritis; fever; joint inflammation; muscle weakness; numbness.

Types of Lupus Erythematosus
Discoid Lupus (DLE) is a skin ailment characterized by red lesions that form on the face and scalp; Systemic Lupus (SLE) damages the kidneys, heart, liver, lungs, nervous system, joints and skin; Drug-Induced Lupus is characterized by lupus-like symptoms triggered by various pharmaceutical drugs—Hydralazine (high blood pressure meds), some heart medications, epileptic, tuberculosis, rheumatoid arthritis medications.

Medical perspective will diagnose the problem by looking or the facial rash, take a blood test and may recommend over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) that can cause their own damage without resolving the lupus. They may also recommend prednisone or other immunosuppressive drugs that may also carry dangerous toxicity or side effects.

Natural perspective includes diet, stress relief and other following natural treatments. The lupus sufferer may need to use natural therapies for flare-ups, specific organ or joint weaknesses, and homeopathic constitutional treatment.

For diet, remove toxic substances such as tobacco, alcohol, black tea, coffee, sodas and reduce processed foods.

Prognosis for Lupus
The outcome has improved over previous years for people with SLE. Many affected have mild illness. Women with SLE who become pregnant are often able to complete pregnancy safely and deliver normal infants if severe renal or heart disease is not present, and the SLE is under treatment. The 10-year survival rate exceeds 85%. People with severe involvement of the brain, lungs, heart, and kidney have the worst prognosis in terms of overall survival and disability.

The following natural supplements may alleviate Lupus symptoms:

Magnesium levels are often abnormally low in lupus patients. Use as much magnesium as possible until you get diarrhea and then back off the dosage.

Pycnogenol may be a useful adjunctive treatment as an antioxidant

MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) at 5000mg a day may help to prevent and treat SLE.

Fish oil at 6000mg per day may be effective.

Disclaimer: some drugs and herbs should not be combined.

MS Multiple Sclerosis Natural Remedies

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic neuromuscular ailment in which the myelin sheaths surrounding the nerves in the brain and spinal cord (i.e. in the central nervous system) are damaged. There are various theories as to the cause (and none are agreed upon unanimously by medical experts). MS occurs mainly in the Caucasian populations of westernized nations and incidence is 50-100 cases per 100,000 of the population. It is more prevalent in women than in men, and generally commences at an early age – most often during early adult years. It is generally accepted that Multiple Sclerosis is neither preventable nor curable, although many patients have gone into remission form many years and various therapies have been demonstrated to alleviate the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis.

Symptoms include many of the following: Hands-dropping things, weakness in the legs with staggering, gait, numbness, eyes blurred or double vision – tingling sclerosis includes calcium plaque of the nervous system where they can’t transmit messages – electromagnetic cut-off, atrophy, degeneration of spinal cord – spreads throughout the body – chronic virus? – slurred speech, tremors, mood swings, loss of bowel functions, paralysis, wheelchairs, to bed-redden – hippocratic face – unemotional or flat – without expression, photophobic – independent or rigid, emotionally closed, sensitive.

Diagnosis isn’t always clear or accurate; when it is, medications can be helpful, but most of the time are ineffective or toxic, or have side effects.

In my experience, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a response to chronic stress of toxicity of physical or emotional causes. Look at your lifestyle and diet.

Natural treatments can stop or slow the progression of MS. I would use a combination of diet, cell salts, homeopathic remedies, and herbs for best results.

The Swank diet and a gluten-free diet can maintain one’s health almost indefinitely.

The following natural supplements may alleviate or prevent symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis:

Glucosamine may be useful for treatment.
Magnesium may benefit muscular health.
Curcumin (turmeric) may inhibit further progression because it is anti-inflammatory.
Mangosteen may be useful.
Evening Primrose Oil may alleviate some of the symptoms as it may aid the myelin sheath.
Phosphatidyl Serine (PS), at 100 mg twice a day, may help rebuild the myelin sheath.

The following substances may cause or exacerbate symptoms of MS:

Aspartame may cause symptoms that closely resemble Multiple Sclerosis.
Excessive estrogen levels or a high estrogen: progesterone ratio (estrogen dominance).
Mineral toxicity: excessive accumulation of aluminum within the body may cause MS.
Excessive exposure to lead may be a trigger.
Mercury may cause MS (It has also been speculated that root canal fillings may be implicated in the development of MS.).
Hepatitis B vaccine is suspected of causing some cases of MS.

For your diet, eliminate toxins that may affect the myelin sheath and general immune health. Eliminate tobacco, caffeine, coffee, black tea, soda, and processed foods.

Disclaimer: some drugs and herbs should not be combined.

Natural Healing Protocol: Combining supplements will do more to support your body’s ability to function properly than using just one. Use the following remedies for best results — your ability to heal will depend on the severity and length of time your symptoms have been present.

Sciatic Pain Natural Remedies

Sciatica comes from nerve pains radiating from an irritated or damaged sciatic nerve; this nerve feeds the legs. Sciatic pain can be throbbing, aching, or shooting. Sciatic pain can last for a few days typically. Many people have chronic sciatic problems.

The cause of sciatic pain is generally injury to the lumbar spine, however there may be a bulging disc aggravated by constipation, varicose veins, or exposure to cold wet conditions.

The medical perspective on sciatic pain tells patients to rest for 48 hours, avoiding physical exertion. Pain relievers and muscle relaxers for sciatic pain are often prescribed but bring many side effects. Surgery or steroids may be a last resort for sciatic pain.

Natural perspective on sciatic pain is, first, to prevent injuries such as bulging discs, with other contributing causes such as constipation. Natural treatment for sciatic pain can be very effective negating the use of medications. Complementary treatments for sciatic pain might include chiropractic adjustments or acupuncture.

Natural supplements for sciatic pain include Bromelain as a natural anti-inflammatory taken between meals. The best potency is 2500 GDUs ( gdu is a measure of potency). Also see the cell salts below as these natural supplements can be of great assistance. Herbal therapies are also a natural way to reduce inflammation and sciatic pain as well as promoting circulation.

Natural Bad Breath Remedies

Bad breath is an offensive odor coming from the mouth. The most common cause is poor digestion. Some say constipation may also cause bad breath. Medications which block or reduce stomach acid may cause bad breath. Sinus problems may also be a cause. Very rarely, bad breath may be a sign of tuberculosis, syphilis, cancer, or even AIDS. Other causes include smelly foods (sardines, garlic, onions, salami, or other strong smelling foods), hunger, or dental problems. Remember to have regular dental checkups. Modern medicine doesn’t usually treat bad breath unless a severe medical problem is seen.

Bad breath is not treated by doctors with the exception of examining teeth for infection or to give antibiotics for recurring sinus infections. The natural way to get rid of bad breath is to find the cause. Remember, the cause could be as simple constipation or stress.

First, eliminate tobacco, alcohol, coffee, soda pop, and fast foods. These things disturb the digestion and contribute to bad breath. Chewing gum may stimulate saliva and better digestion. Further, eating parsley or chewing anise or fennel seeds are natural ways to refresh bad breath.

Next, use supplements to help better digestion; using HCL (to break down proteins in food) with meals or even Papaya to increase digestion and reduce constipation. Also, remember to drink plenty of water; stay hydrated.

Disclaimer: some drugs and herbs should not be combined.

Natural Healing Protocol: Combining supplements will do more to support your body’s ability to function properly than using just one. Use the following remedies for best results — your ability to heal will depend on the severity and length of time your symptoms have been present.
