Leg Ulcers Natural Remedies

Leg ulcers begin with small open areas of the skin, mostly of the lower third of the lower leg. If neglected it may grow to open sores which are round or irregular shaped. These leg ulcers may deepen and appear as a dirty green-gray mass or raised irregular inflamed borders.

With leg ulcers there can be severe pain that radiates to the whole leg. Legs can be swollen and have inflammation, fever, and bleeding. Complications of leg ulcers include infection, pus discharges, and blood clots (thrombosis).

Causes of leg ulcers include constitutional connective tissue weakness and nutritional deficiencies of the skin. Scratching can cause inflammation and eventually small wounds. Leg ulcers can be caused from stresses of pregnancy, standing on the feet from a job, lack of exercise, constipation, or deficient sanitary care.

Natural care of leg ulcers is prevention or early treatment to prevent complications using a combination of natural therapies over a long period of time. Eliminating causes of leg ulcers is an important part of therapy. It is important to have a doctor watch for blood clots, gangrene or other complications. Antibiotics may be prescribed for infections but it is hard to reverse this condition.

Diet – it is important to stop smoking, alcohol, coffee, black tea. Also look at medications as a causative factor – do your research and incite the help of your pharmacist and doctor.

Supplements to assist are Grape seed extract at 300 mg a day to improve tissue integrity; Coenzyme Q10 at 100 mg a day for circulation and heart protection.
